The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, strongly condemns the horrific attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where armed assailants invaded the school, killed a vice principal, and abducted numerous students.
This tragic incident is yet another painful reminder of the worsening insecurity threatening the stability, progress, and future of our nation. The attack on innocent schoolchildren represents not just a criminal act but a direct assault on the foundations of education and national development.
The ADC Akwa Ibom State expresses deep sympathy to the families of the victims, the government of Kebbi State, and the entire community affected by this senseless act of violence. We stand in solidarity with all Nigerians mourning this national tragedy.
We urgently call on the Federal Government and all relevant security agencies to:
- Intensify rescue efforts to ensure the immediate and safe return of all abducted students.
- Strengthen security presence around schools, especially in vulnerable communities across the country.
- Improve intelligence gathering and inter-agency coordination to prevent future attacks.
- Hold perpetrators accountable through swift investigation and prosecution.
Nigeria cannot afford to normalize violence or allow criminal elements to continue destroying lives and instilling fear in our citizens. The protection of lives and property remains the primary constitutional responsibility of the government, and we urge renewed commitment to this mandate.
The ADC Akwa Ibom State reiterates its unwavering support for all efforts aimed at securing our schools and communities. Every Nigerian child deserves a safe environment to learn, grow, and dream without fear.
